I.T. - Data Preservation
SO YOU HAVE A SECOND HARD DRIVE
So you have a second hard drive. You think your data is protected. After all, you have those duplicate copies. But do you really????????? You've been diligent and copied that data onto a CD, USB or hard drive. Here comes the big question. Where did you put the CD or USB drive? Did you put them in a drawer near the computer? Is your second hard drive in the same location as your computer?
Data Loss is Real - Scary Statistics
Nineteen out of 20 small businesses that lose their computer data for at least 10 days go out of business.
2000 laptops are lost or stolen every day, and a hard drive crashes every 15 seconds. Have you fallen into these statistics?
Whether you drive around town with a secondary hard drive, or burn a CD with your important data and take it to the bank, get your data backed up and off-site.
You might want to take a look at remote, on line data backup if the above solutions are too much of a hassle.
Look for a company that has department of defense encryption and compresses the data before it's transmitted. Ask where the data is stored. If it's not in a Tier 4 storage facility, you may not meet government data storage requirements. Make sure there are multiple copies of the data stored. (We call this the redundancy factor.)And finally, back up, get it off-site and breathe easy.
